I'm 8 days late and have a neg pregnancy test. What's going on?

Hi. So my period is currently 8 days late and I took a pregnancy test and it turned out negative. ALTHOUGH I did just take it at 11:30 pm at night could that have anything to do with it or would the time not matter. Also what else could be going on with me?? My period is usually NEVER this late!!
