Do you have a problem that is causing you to go? or is it that you just feel its time for a complete physical.
I use to only go if I had a problem. then in anticipation of possibly loosing my benefits, I scheduled a physical and was surprised to find that I had border-line diabetes and high blood pressure.
Of course I was told to lose weight and exercise and for the most part, I tried to follow it. I have a mamography each year and I have been active so pap tests are necessary. I was recently found to have abnormal cells in the uterus so now they have to be watched.
Going to the doctors, finding out things, and following a course of treatment could be a blessing. If you're not married, have no children to worry about, and such, you can continue to live with your head in the sand and go through life with the feeling that ignornance is bliss. I chose to know and hopefully treat what's wrong under the guidance of a single doctor who could serve as my traffic-cop for all tests, results, and courses of treatements.
Good luck and my prayers are being sent your way. I don't think its strange being nervous about doctors but you should go. Just realize that your blood pressure will be elevated because of your fear and make sure to tell them that when you call.
