The majority of guys in their 20s (heck, pretty much any-age guy) are very shallow and superficial, caring mainly about physical appearance and sexual traits of their potential mates.
Also of note, sometimes this is macho behavior invoked to protect his masculine status/qualities to other men. (aka. impress people)
I'm not sure if the statistics are true, that men think about sex 700 times a day or whatever (sex rather repulses me, but that's a different subject) but believe me, there are some genuine guys out there who want to get to know you, not just get in your pants.
I'd say just keep looking for such a person. You'll meet a lot of fakes - there are *tons* of men who can play the whole "I'm a nice guy, I won't hurt you" routine - who know how to work on your heart: keep your guard up, listen to your gut and you'll know who's real.
Keep in mind, though, this may take some time to find this right person - there are a lot of jerks out there.
