...when i go to family court? i got involved with stealing a kids 1200 mac laptop what happend was i took it off this kids desk with out his knowledge and a another student in my class said to give it to him so i did i didnt have plans to steal it i was just joking around but the kid i gave it to walked out and stole it and it was recoverd the next day. what do you think will happen to me?? this is my first offence and im 15 and i live in the state of long island new york
 
well you are not charged with grand larceny because you did not cross state lines, you probably haven't been charged with anything at all since you did not mention being arrested. This is probably more of a school matter and even if its not you won't go to "family court". Juvenile court. So unless you've been charged with something by a police officer you will just have to deal with school consequences. If you have been formally charged get a lawyer. Simple as that.
