Ils/Them

Don't know much about it, but every time I hear the title I think it should be translated as 'They' rather than 'Them'.

Correct translation isn't necessarily word for word though, you have to get the meaning right and in this case "ils" would sound ok to a French-speaking person as a film title but "they" would sound slightly odd to an English-speaking person.

I went to see if with the other half at the weekend....the cinema contained just us two :)

I didnt realise the film was going to be subtitled, but it didnt make much difference, and i thought it made it a more eery, and increased the sense of the uknown which the majority of the film is taken up with. (Dont let the subtitles put you off seeing this film though!!)
Pretty good for "jump moments". I found the end to be a little disturbing though. Worth seeing!

Saw it on Sunday -- the cinema was quite full...despite the guy behind the ticket counter trying to discourage people

"Can I have a ticket for Them please"
"You know it's a French film?"
"Yes"
"...with English subtitles?"
"Yes"
"...do you still want a ticket?"

Between Haute Tension (Switchblade Romance) and Ils (Them), French horror is really delivering!

I think the best thing about the film is that it's quite short, so it never really outstays its welcome -- just gets right into the horror (based on a true story) and doesn't let up.

The climax is quite disturbing, particularly in the context of the real life events!

Thanks for the recommendation, Stiggy and ThePulse. I'm glad you enjoyed the film. I'm hoping to go and see it this week and will let you know how I get on.

Seen this on DVD last night and was impressed with it. Don't let the fact of it being subtitled put you off as there isn't a great deal of talking in it. Good movie though, specially with surround sound.

They're doing an American remake also if anyone is interested called 'The Strangers' with Liv Tyler.

Bumping this as I watched most of this film last night, but couldn't bare to watch the end with the couple's inevitable suffering which seemed to be about to be delivered! Can anyone tell me what happened at the end after they were trying to make their escape through the wooRAB..? What was the 'twist'?

Bloody hell was going to watch this last night.

Switched over to film4 to watch it and I thought it had been cancelled and the entity had been put on in it's place.

Turns out it was on C4 and i'm a total spaz who can't remember what channel something is on
