Illinois cannot have a special election for Barack's Senate seat?

A special election would be ex post facto (the vacancy occurred before any potential law change could be enacted) and as such could not be applied.

Only Blago or his successor can appoint the fill for the vacancy.
 
They can if they have a spare $50 MILLION to pay for it. The seat is up for re-election in just two years. It seems like a waste of money in a recession.
 
just like a con, lets change the rules in the middle of the game, prove blago did something wrong or leave the country if you don't like it, doosh
 
I think the Illinois State Senate is going to decide what's going to happen. Blago is defintelty out of the picture regarding that matter.
 
Unless they change the law for all appointments 'starting today'. That isn't ex post facto.
