I live close to Chicago and want to know if there are any close (2-3 hour max) rustic/backwoods camping areas. I've been to Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky (6-7 hours away) and we were able to park our car off the main road and hike into the woods and pitch a tent. That's what I'm looking for. Any rustic campground I can find comes equipped with a fire pit, picnic tables, etc. Not to rustic. Anyone know of any actual backwoods camping around the Chicago-land area?
