Illegally downloading movies

I occasionally download films, but I don't feel bad about it. My reasoning is this;

I always go to the cinema to see a film that I want to see. I never download it for first viewing. Heck, if I really like the film, I will still go to the cinema several times to see it, regardless of its availability as a download. (because cinema quality is better than low-res shaky-handheld-camera quality)

I download the movie if I think my dad would like it. He is unable to go to the cinema due to medical problems, so its not like the studio is losing money. He couldn't go and pay them anyway, so its no difference!

If a movie has managed to meet those two conditions, then there is no doubt it is already in my pre-order list for when it comes out on Blu-Ray. The studio still gets the same sale.

So I feel ok about downloading, because the studio still gets the same amount of money out of me as they would if I didn't download it. No-one is being ripped off. Everyone's happy.

i would dearly, dearly love to live near a cineworld so i could have an unlimited card :)

i actually don't download a fraction of what i used to. i'm one of those horrible tradtionalists who thinks that a film should be enjoyed on the big screen - even though it costs the ruddy earth.

there are, however, some exceptions - as an example, i fully expect i'll be downloading the screener of the wrestler - but - only after i go and see it on the cinema,

i've resisted getting it until now because i really, really want to see it at the cinema. i think i'm going to like it so much, i'll want to see it again and that's where my financial situation kicks in because i couldn't realistically afford to see it more than once, so i'll download the screener.

What sites do you use to download and are they safe??

I used to download films from limewire but now my pc has completely gone bust and i scared to download on my laptop as i really do not want any viruses on it.

If I could, I would go to the cinema for every film and rent or whatever the whole screen for each film for moi and frienRAB :) Well not the art cinema because it seems to go well with the audience in there, the noisy problems seem to be in the mainstream cinema.

Idea:
Companies can set up a legal torrent site, or work with en existing one.
Sell the torrents, make money from ad revenue and charge a membership fee for access to films that are in cinemas.

I don't download movies, but i DO begrudge having to pay extra for a cinema seat because I'm larger than the average person, and my bum won't fit in a normal seat.

I tend to wait till the DVD is out and rent it.

I can't be arsed to download something for hours, and then my nine year old slow computer isn't exactly good for space...

I'm not a fan of sitting in front of my computer and watching a film, I like to be sitting comfortably in front of a big television/cinema screen with 100% quality.

Some people who mentioned they have seen something could have watched it in the country it's released first in you know... not just test screenings/pre release... also, I've managed to get films like this, some countries get a film released on dvd before it's out on cinema here in the UK, legal dvd releases.

Latest one I got was Julia, with Tilda Swinton, got it on region 2 dvd in France before it came into cinemas here in the UK.

i'm sure there's a film that's recently been released that's available to see at the cinema, rent on dvd or to download legally as well. the gimmick is that you can watch it in any way you choose.

don't know what it's called though - although i did a quick google search to see if i could find any clues and randomly discovered an article from the independent a few weeks ago about aXXo !!

I download quite a lot at this time of year. The only cinema around here is 20 miles away, and it's just the one screen so there's usually a bit of a wait for the new films to get here.

I don't mind waiting usually, and I buy anything I do like on dvd, but I love watching the oscars and all the award ceremonies having seen all the nominees, so i'm going a bit mad with all the dvd screeners at the moment. I'll slow down again next month anway.
