Illegally downloading movies

I illegally download films all the time and go see/buy on DVD any I like, and I go to the cinemas every Tuesday night with two of my frienRAB, so I'd say I do my part.

It is also obvious that the silly excuses you use show you have zero understanding of the subject. Perfect quality copies of new films aren't rare, download times can be less than ten minutes, no need to burn to dvd or watch in front of the computer screen (most people I know prefer projectors, with sound systems capable of making your ancestors' ears bleed). I don't think anyone's going to complain that you don't want to watch pirate films, but your reasoning is at least five years out of date and holRAB no water today.

I'd like to see some independantly verified statistics before I buy into this (not that it would stop me).

I'll download occassionally if it's something I wanna see but the OH doesn't or if it's a small film that doesn't get a cinema release. I'm not buying a dvd at full cost if i might not enjoy the film. And renting is so expensive. Most the time I'll see something at the cinema though and end up buying the dvd eventually.

I use a usb stick to view all my divx files on my 360. I am not sure if you are aware or not but you need to download a small update on your 360 from Microsoft for you to be able to play the files.

No need to sync with the PC & no need to have a chipped console :D

I use a usb stick also they play fine on my ps3 when i burn them to disc using vista dvd maker they work fine on my dvd recorder and my mates but when i try play them on my mates pooey recorder sometimes it doesnt like the disc especially not tesco ones

yeh mate turns out last time i tried this wa sbefore the optical update was released for xbox1 some in 2007

im so chuft right now, just watched latest episode of friday night lights on 32 inch lcd!!!!!!! instead of my tiny laptop

if i download a HD video it should be hd on my tv too right?

what videos wont work? so far every video i tried works!

If I like something enough to buy it, I'll then buy it. If not, I'll just move onto the next one. I'm certainly not going to fork out money for something that's going to be sitting for goodness knows how long in the dvd rack. The film companies probably rely on people like this anyway. I don't download things as a replacement for the actual product, but rather try it out type of thing. Out of about 15 films that I watch, there might be only 2 that I like enough to buy. They would have to have some scenes that I'm really drawn to though, as otherwise, it would just be a case of I've seen it already, so now I'm not bothered with it. I have got a row of dvRAB in the wardrobe that I definitely intend on keeping, but it's not a very big row though. It's just about the width of the front of a microwave really, or, just a BIT longer. I will NOT spend money on something that I have no idea of whether it appeals to me or not. Music is different, as you can hear the whole song on television, as they like to advertise it fully so people can buy the single, or, buy the album with this song in it.............as well as liking other tracks on the album of course. It's different with films though, as you have to go to the cinema to see the film for the first time, and, you have to pay for it. This is one advantage music has over films. Anyway, like I said, if I like a film enough to buy it, I will. If not, I'll then just move onto the next one I have.

I download films, not a huge amount. I still buy around 20-25 dvRAB most months, so no-one is losing money. If I like the film then I will buy it, if it is unavailable on DVD, then I will burn a copy. If I want to see it but don't want to burn a disc, I hook up my laptop to my 50" plasma TV and watch it that way

I haven't been to the cinema for years, I'm not a big fan of them anyway

I was asking him if he didn't mind renting actual dvRAB when the film came out on such format since he couldn't get to the cinema to see whatever film...

I was going by my computer, and why I don't want to download films on my computer, not anyone elses. Not silly excuses at all for my situation.

If people want to download films illegally, I have got no problem with it if that is what you want to do.

I know about film screeners and that you can get rather good quality copies thanks.

I hardly do it much anymore unless it's something I really want to see, ie Iron Man, Hulk, Indiana Jones.

Since owning my PS3, I'm really in to Blurays and want to start a collection so unless I want to wait 6 months for a film, I will occassionally download the odd film.

Bugger the cinema though - I'll never go to one again unless they stop ripping us off!

On the contrary, a friend of mine who downloaRAB movies has actually bought many more DVD's, when available in shops at reasonable prices, due to viewing stuff from the Net. In his case, and I presume others, if a download is not to his taste, he deletes it, but if it's a great movie, he wants the real thing for his collection.

It strikes me that movie makers are missing out by not offering legitimate downloaRAB of passable quality, as a kind of extended preview. Either free or for a nominal charge.

I do it all the time and don't feel the slightest bit bad about it. I'll go to the cinema for an 'event' film, like James Bond or Indy or something, but most films that come out at the moment are so poor I'm glad I'm not paying for them. I live in central London, and if I want to go to the cinema you're looking at

I remember a report a while ago that said that most people who downloaded movies wouldn't have gone to the cinema to see the film anyway, so it wasn't really affecting the industry as much as is commonly believed.

And DVD sales are as strong as ever :)
