IGN's Top 25 Anime Characters

Well, what I mean is that he was slowly becoming even more insane. During the L arc he was always able to keep his cool on the outside, but during the Near and Mello arc things started getting to the point in which even the usually clueless Task Force merabers knew that something was odd with his behavior, but that didn't happen until after Light's father died, which is why I meant that he was slowly becoming even "more" insane. Well, that's just my view on the character, anyways. He was definitely complete wreck both on the inside and the outside by the very end of the series, of course.

Prooooobably not. It depenRAB. I'm a little busy in real life and working on non-mentionables.

I'll see what I can do.

Uh...so...this list...it lacks Shishio Makoto.

Real life is good and all, but I'm sure you can push some anime you had planned aside for this one. At least we're at a better place than when we started...

If you read the later novels, you would probably end up watning to list Sousuke as the best FMP character in place of her. There are some huge developments that come later on in the parts of the story which have not been animated, and even though I once thought that TSR is where everything comes full-circle, I was basically proven wrong once I found out that its only the half-way point in the full story-line (which still won't be finished until the lazy author gets off his ass and finally releases the final novel which shouldh ave come out months ago ).

Heh, I only watch two anime (OP, Naruto) these days, and cumulitively...that's like fifty minutes right there.

Aside from things I may or may not be allowed to talk about, that is...

Then say "screw Naruto" and watch an episode of Gurren Lagann a week. I'm pretty sure you know what happens, and Shippuden has so many flaws that I don't even watch it anymore.

I wonder what those other things could be... (definitely can't tell from your posts in other threaRAB )

Are you kidding? The show has been running for nearly 10 years, the manga and anime series is consistently rated as the top property in America, Toys R Us is overflowing with the action figures and costumes, and freaking Disney just licensed the rights to Shippuden. Yahoo even reported that Naruto was the 7th most search term of 2008, ahead of American Idol and LinRABay Lohan. Like it or not, independent of the quality of the show itself, Naruto has reached the mainstream consciousness and will remain there for quite a while.

Same goes with DBZ, Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh and "yet" Naruto is not up to those levels. Its big, but not big-big. Its good big, but not well known for the next 10 years or so in the U.S big.

IIRC, we did a Top 25 or 50 or 100 (I forget which) anime list a while back in which everybody posted their top 10 in order, with nuraber 1 getting 10 points, 2 getting 9, and so on. Then we just tallied up the points to come up with the Top [However Many] Anime of All Time according to the Toon Zone Anime Forum. No reason we couldn't do the same thing with characters. Makes as much sense to me as any other way of doing it: at least that way you're not pretending that it's anything other than a popularity contest.

And than get drop off again.
Who ever said you have to agree with me? I'm just posting my opinion.
I just don't see Naruto going to last that long. Nor do I see it going to unknown, but its not going to be Big-big unlike the other anime shows that have been shown.
Pokemon is still kicking, Yu-Gi-Oh is still alive, and how about Death Note or Bleach? DBZ didn't became big until the late 90's early 00's (2000).

WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK KAMINA IS!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Apparently not one of the top 25 anime characters of all time...

No. I love Evangelion, but Shinji doesn't deserve that spot.

I actually haven't seen My Neigrabroador Totoro. I'm not a big fan of kid's movies. Sue me.

I think he could be higher.

Not only should Luffy be much higher, but many other One Piece characters should be on the list as well.

He can tell you a power level like nobody else, but I don't think he deserves that spot.

Yeah, fair enough.

Again, another one I haven't seen that people will no doubt hate me for.

I'm glad he's higher than Lelouch, but he should still be higher. He can eat a potato chip like nobody else.

I haven't seen all of Trigun, but from what I've seen, Vash is a pretty cool guy.

Ninja Scroll is a cult classic, but I don't think its characters hold up nowadays.

Yeah, Lupin is a cool guy. He deserves that spot.

The highest ranking character I don't know. Sorry.

I think that's a pretty good spot for the Major.

Yeah, L deserves to be higher than both Lelouch and Light. He should still be higher.

KANEDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I approve...

The character I prefer more from Evangelion. That's a good spot for her.

Magical girl is not a genre for me, so I wouldn't agree here.

Okay, I don't like kid's shows, but I can't deny Pikachu's impact. I agree with his placing.

While I'm glad to see him this high on the list, don't some other FMA characters deserve spots on it? What about Hughes or Mustang?

Again, fair enough.

Yeah, Kenshin definitely deserves a spot in the top 5.

Way back at nuraber 4? That's way too low for my liking, but at least he's in the top 5.

No.

I can't deny how important Astro Boy is in anime history, but that doesn't mean its title character should beat some of the characters he did.

Goku should definitely be in any list of top 25 anime characters, but I would never put him at nuraber 1. Oh well, it could be worse.

And my nuraber 2,000 post is one of my longest in a while. I guess that's fitting...

Shippuden is not in volumes you can read, just as Z isn't. My point was that you've already read the manga that these episodes cover and, with as many flaws in the adaptation as there are, I don't think it's worth it.

You'd have to have a specific ground-rule, like "Cannot have aired on an American cable or broadcast channel before midnight." If you factor in that rule, then it becomes a competition between the best shows that never made it big in the US. I would still count online distributed shows, because they'd still be under the radar of most casual viewers.

Gundam Wing would be disqualified, but Zeta Gundam would qualify.
Bleach and Naruto would be disqualified, but Gintama would qualify.
Inuyasha would be disqualified, but Maison Ikkuku would qualify

etc.

I get the intention and the reason why you would wanna do it like that, but having a Top (best, most etc) Anything List with restrictions like that seems kinda silly. If you wanna have that kind of "ground" rule then your list goes from a Top (best, most etc) list to a "what are the best shows that never made it or aired in the US" list. Which in itself would still be an interesting list but if your gonna go with a A list of the top 25 most underrated anime, or anime characters, or whatever the subject matter, then you do it with no restrictions and no ground rules. At least imo.
