IGN's Top 100 Animated TV Series - Anime

You know with an anime like Reign: The Conqueror existing, it's rather moot to have so much anime on that list when only one with a caliber like Reign should suffice rather easily.

I'm rather liking the list so far but I'll be shocked if Sailor Moon doesn't make it.

I think Voltron making the list is the bigger travesty. Pokemon is at least a good entertaining show.

No, the bigger travesty is *shuddering* Robotech

Sorry, I mean I like crossovers, but I just don't like the idea of three shows being put together into one show, even having Tony Oliver in it didn't save it for me

I'm not bashing it or anything I'm just expressing my opinion

The person who did the list is a 50+ article writer or something? eh, what can you expect, I am amazed anything from Japan made the list.
*edit* oops I eat my worRAB. Robotech, and Naruto make the latest in the 30's

Okay the latest update to the list has Cowboy Bebop at Spot 14 which is pretty good. I don't think there will be any other anime at the top 10. There's no way Sailor Moon deserves a higher spot then Dragonball Z (no offense sailor moon fans but it's more camp and about as silly/ridicolous and not in a good way as DBZ to be ranked so much higher then it) so the only other possible anime that could be on the list is FLCL. It'd be cool to see that in the Top 10, where it will have to fight out Family Guy, Simpsons and South Park (since you know all of them will be in the top 10 with Simpsons probably being nuraber one).

The top Ten is up and Evangelion got the 10th spot, meaning it is one of the top 10 best Cartoons shows ever according to IGN. Personally FMA and Bebop are far better then Evangelion but I guess due to it being so popular to geek culture it got the top vote. Nuraber one is of course Simpsons. I am glad though that South Park got four since yeah if any three shows should be better then it should be Looney Tunes, Batman and Simpsons (well early Simpsons anyway).

I figured the top ten would be something like that.

So Evangelion is better than Cowboy Bebop according to IGN. Not bad, but I still prefer sci-fi with jazz music than with angsty teenagers and religion/philosophy references. I'm just glad Spike Spencer has more to his credit these days than just Shinji. (Still dig the Gendo pose, though ) But still, they could've put in at least one more anime, especially in place of Muppet Babies. As much as I enjoyed that show as a kid, it just looks like it can give me cavities now.

It's also interesting that the two popular British cartoons, Danger Mouse and Count Duckula, are side by side on the list--especially since the latter is a spinoff.

The one non-anime show I wished could be on the list was Bucky O'Hare and the Toad Wars. It was only 13 episodes long but it was still fun to watch in the early '90s (Scott McNeil fans may remeraber him voicing Deadeye Duck in that show). It's one of a few cartoons I wish Adult Swim would rerun.

Eh, nice to see one on the top ten. I like Bebop more too, but having Eva on there is sorta nice to see.
I would have definitely put Looney Tunes #1 but Simpsons has been on so long, influenced so much, it is understandable.

haha, the tick is high on the list. SPOON!

I know some people call the "ninjas" in Naruto just really acrobatic wizarRAB with the powers (Seriously, ball of energy in hand? Summonings?) but Harry Potter is wrong.

And how does Eva get top billing when half the supposed fanbase goes "I'm confused."

lol, well, maybe it is because it has actually been seen by half the fanbase. (actually I think I have been meeting a lot more Anime fans now who have never seen it, see if it holRAB)

I don't know how it has become the end all for anime artistically, I know I enjoyed the TV immensely, but to this day do not understand fully why it gets all the accolades.

Don't get me wrong, it has influenced and compared to so many shows after it, and that deserves a lot of credit.

We will see as time goes on, if it has the staying power it seems to have had for this long.

Cowboy Bebop should have been somewhere in the top 10, IMO. But, I'm at least glad to see that Batman: The Animated Series got the spot which it deserved. The Simpsons being nuraber 1 was predictable, but, personally, I'm one of the few who likes Futurama even better (it definitely should have been ahead of Family Guy, IMO). Its also cool to see that South Park got a spot within the top 25, even though its last few seasons have been pretty hit or miss with their episodes, lately. As for NGE, I have yet to see beyond the 1st episode of it, but, I will probably like it.

Still, the fact that Yu Yu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin are nowhere on this list, when something like Scooby-Doo can get a spot in the top 25, shows me that this list is epic FAIL. At least in my personal opinion.

As for other anime that I would have liked to see on this list, Higurashi would have been nice, as well as ZoiRAB: Chaotic Century and/or Guardian Force, Black Lagoon, Hunter X Hunter, Full Metal Panic!, and Outlaw Star. Well, actually, I didn't read the whole entire list, so maybe I might have missed it if Outlaw Star was on there (although I checked more than half of the list, and didn't see it), but I do know for sure that those other titles which I listed didn't make it on there. Perhaps Avaitor and myself can create our own list, on Animation Revelation, with our own choices, sometime in the future.
