We are having trouble getting my 87 dodge ramcharger with a 318 in time, the old distributer didnt have enough advance on it so i got on that goes on a 75 with a vacume advance and it just isnt working right, i need to know what degree is supposed to be at and if there is anything that we need to do to that we aren't seeing.

thanks

Put your old back it had all you need. Vacum unhooked set base timing at 8 btc, hook the vacum up and bring the truck to 2400 rpm. It should have 32 degrees, if it don't replace the timing chain. Compaired to others smallblock mopar chains are long [this was done to make it easy to change the stroke] the chain stretches and retards the cam making it imposable to get a proper tune. www.summitraceing.com sells a good true double roller chain kit for under $50$ and a gasket set for about 17$
