Ignition coil part of a normal tune up in a Jeep Cherokee and will it flunk inspection?

I just bought a 2001 Jeep Cherokee 4 x 4 with 113,000 miles. The engine light is on and the mechanic says it's a multiple cylinder misfire and I need a new ignition coil (they replaced the spark plugs already). I also took it to AutoZone to have it checked and he said the same thing. The mechanic said it also won't pass inspection if it's not replaced. The dealer said that's not true and does not want to pay for it because he said its a normal maintenance thing and part of a tune up. I have a 30 day warranty on the engine and trany with a 100.00 deductible. The light came on within 24 hours of purchase I don't think I should have to pay a dime!
Help! I'm so frustrated!
