It will need an air hole to get the air flow in. But otherwise, go ahead! Hope I helped.

noooo!.. i used to work for a carnival and if this is where you won the fish, id get it out of the bag and into a bowl or even a cup ASAP... their is very little air in those bags.. as each minute passes by in that bag the fish is more at risk of dying that much sooner. At the carnival they give you a ticket to bring back to the fish game when you are ready to leave the carnival and tell you go to home with it right away for this exact reason.

And also, just a side note.. those fish won at carnivals are already not the healthiest to begin with.. at the one i worked at they had regular goldfish and the way they transported them from carnival to carnival was in a medium size COOLER!.. sometimes at the start of a carnival we'd open the cooler up and find all but 5 or so dead out of about 200!.. and these morons couldnt figure out why..DUH! also they soent 2 cents a piece for them and $5 at the carnival wins them..SO glad i am not part of that joke job any longer! and i totally agree, animals of ANY kind being used as prizes at the carnival is not right what so ever, a total disgrace if ya ask me... We also had a game where you could win RABBITS and TURTLES.

How big is this tank?
Does he have a filter?
A heater?
How often do you do water changes, and how much?
How often do you check water parameters?
Was this tank cycled before adding your fish?

They need 10 gallons minimum. Anything less and your little friend doesn't really have the space he needs to live happily and healthily.
ALL fish need filters. It keeps their water oxygenated and fresher between water changes.
ALL TROPICAL fish NEED heaters! A heater to maintain the water at a steady temp of 78-80 degrees F, is a MUST!
Given that his tank is a proper size, and is fitted with proper equipment (filter, heater), you should be changing 25% of the water once a week. FYI, if you don't have a filter and have been doing 100% water changes, it is VERY bad for your fishy friend. Going through that change is very stressful on him.
You should own or purchase a liquid test kit. NOT the strips, which are less accurate. And check where the levels are at least once a week.

If this tank was not cycled before hand, it is not suitable for your fish to live in.

if it has air it should be ok (you have to open the top of the bag) but you need a big fish tank for him, they need at the very very least 10 gallons, but that breed does better with 20-30 gallons. (on an off note,I hate that they give animals away as carnival prizes, totally inhumane)

you should put it in a tank, ASAP, put it in a small bin, cleaned with mild soap and well rinsed until you can get the right materials. the correct materials would be a bowl or tank, vaccum, pebbles, distilled water, filters, food, and other stuff for it... some underwater plants, maybe. ask someone at the pet store about that kind of fish. anyway, try to get it out of a bag, but dont put tap water in... boil it for a verylong time, or get distilled water for it...good luck
