draft this year? So, being a 49er fan, I've had to endure bad decisions from the team for almost a decade now. Next season will be Jed York's first as owner, and Singletary's first (full season) as head coach, so we are all excited and hoping to see if things will turn around.

If you were the G.M. of your favorite team, what would you do this offseason, or what do you think your team will do? How will they approach the draft?

I always look at the Mock Drafts, and they're almost completely pointless. I see them now, and they think the 49ers will draft a QB in the first round. Now, I don't know if that is the right decision for the 49ers. Alex Smith was a bust, and in part, because we didn't have an offensive line that could protect him. We still don't have an O-Line, so I would think that the niners should draft one, but there are 3 or 4 other teams that will probably draft one before S.F.

SO, if they can't get a good O-Lineman in the 1st round, would is be smart to trade down and get some more draft picks... the niners have pressing needs every where.

Or, should they draft a DT? B.J. Raji is a top notch D-lineman. The niners need help on the D-Line too. Raji is one of the top 5 (elite) players coming out of the draft.

So, would you pass on Raji, and take the QB when you have no O-Line? Or trade down and get more picks?

I would take B.J. with the first pick, and try and get another lineman later in the draft, or free agency... wait for the Q.B. next year and give Shaun Hill a legitimate chance to be our Q.B. this year.

The best bet for any team in this years draft needing a Quarterback is to work a deal with the New England Patriots for Matt Cassell and trade some picks away. The Detroit Lions really should consider trading for Cassell. He's a 1 year starter with 4 years of NFL Expericene, sat behind Tom Brady and Coach by Pete Carroll and Bill Bellicheck. You can build a franchise under him.

Alex smith isnt a bust...
he is going to be a starter next year.
(even tho i want hill)
But anyway Sf is signing a DE

for the 49ers, I think that their problem lies on a lacking of a productive player. Quarterback is what the 49ers need urgently, Alex Smith's performance last year disappointed everyone, and his performance in the upcoming season may influence himself a lot. still be the starter of the 49ers or released by the 49ers, that is a question!
