Would you keep it and look to select a franchise player to build a team around? Or would you trade down to receive multiple picks in an attempt to address multiple needs?
Detroit gets good veteran defense player plus pick 9 or 10
other team would get pick 1.
This team needs so much help on defense one player won't do it. This way they are guaranteed to get a proven veteran player in return along with a young player at pick 9 or 10.
I would keep dan o. and kitna. cut culpepper.
Then if you have another bad year take a qb. Defense wins games they need to start there first the offense isn't horrible its the defense.
By the way I am in no way a lions fan but you got to feel bad for a team that goes 0-16.
This is what I would do.
I think you trade the #1 pick for multiple late first rounders. There is a lot of talent declaring this year. They could get a couple first round picks I think. If not at least an early first round and an early second round.
They need more then one guy. If they put all their eggs into one basket they aren't going to accomplish much. A good QB is definitely needed in Detroit but that isn't going to make them win. They just traded off their best WR. They just need to get 3 to 4 good players instead of 1 exceptional one.
Or draft Stafford or Bradford if he declares and trade him for a couple of players. There is a lot of angles but they need more then one guy to help them I can assure you of that.
I would draft the best offensive lineman available. And I would do the exact same thing with my next pick. Then I would start building the defense, again beginning with the line. All the best receivers, runners, and quarterbacks in the world are useless to you if your lines are messed up, and the Lions have about the worst linemen in football history.
