If you were a published author, would you approve of fans writing fanfiction from your works?
There are some authors, like Meg Cabot, who openly admit to being a fan of fanfiction. Some authors wrote it as kids, before it was called fanfiction and had its own website.
Other authors, such as Anne Rice and Nora Roberts, have contacted fanfiction.net and asked that the website not archive stories written based on their works.
So if you were a published author, where would you fall? Clearly, there is no way to prevent a single person from writing based off of your work. But if you had to make a public statement about it, what would your choice be?
