if you sign up to join the army but change your mind about it do you still have to go?

they don't want anyone in the service who does not want to be there - BUT they will use any tactic to convince them that it is alright.

it will required education/back bone and some support.

No.

The best way to think about the Delayed Entry Program is like a hotel reservation. Delayed Entry is a reservation for boot camp and AIT school. You are free to cancel at any time right up until the time you leave for boot camp.

If she is in the Delayed Entry Program (meaning she hasn't shipped off for Basic Training yet), then she can still back out. It is not until the second time she swears in at MEPS and ships off for training that she belongs to the Army. Not many people know this and therefore believe they cannot back out and end up hating their life in the military. You should always make sure you are 110% willing to go. Don't enlist otherwise.
