if you run your debit card as credit, will it help build your credit history?

I'm 19 and and want to build credit. I don't have means to buy or rent anything though. I have a debit card and if I were to run it as credit when I make a purchase, will that help build my credit history?

No, sorry but you have to have a credit card to start building credit. Although proper management of your checking account does count for a minimal amount of credit score, using your debit card as a credit won't help.
