If you really support the environment, against global warming, pollution,...

I support people being responsible and not wasting things. I save where possible. But I do NOT support the govt having any say in how I live my life.

Here in SoCal, public transit is not reasonable for most people because buses are often far from your starting point or destination. Our buildings are relatively short (due to seismic design which makes tall buildings not very economical to build), so we have to spread out more across the land. We therefore have to drive to get anywhere (as opposed to, say, NYC, where you can walk or use the subway for most everything).

Environmental responsibility and accountability is not an "all or nothing" proposition, friend. And it is precisely this attitude which is dragging us all down.

Each person makes as many environmentally responsible decisions as they possibly, reasonably, can - every single day of their lives.

These cumulative decisions add up to that person's total carbon footprint over their individual lifespan. Each person does the absolute very best they can.

Some decisions are massive, and can save a great deal of environmental degradation - like becoming a vegan or vegetarian - and some decisions are more subtle but add up when multiplied by all the other human beings all over the globe makind like decisions.

When people like you attempt to pose some preposterous premise such as the one you just did - all you've done actually is to display your complete non-comprehension of the complexity of the problem.

Nobody anywhere is saying we have to go back to horse-and-buggy days in order to clean up the planet.

...etc. Why are you still driving?
I would bet money the majority of Libs and people against global warming drive.

Are buses even better? Theyre empty half the time how is that not polluting
How are 143,781,202 cars helping the environment

I live 30 miles from my workplace and 10 miles from the nearest town with a supermarket. I drive a hybrid. A horse would not be feasible. However i would endorse a public transport system.

Because there is no public transportation available in my region, but I drive very infrequently. I save all the errands for one day a week, I drive as fuel efficient of a car that I can afford, and I offset my carbon footprint by recycling, using eco-friendly lightbulbs, not letting the water run while I brush teeth, I compost, I garden, I shut off all electronics while not in use, I shut off all lights that are not needed as well.

One does not exclude the other.

Because sometimes it's necessary, though I do bike and use public transportation as much as possible.

I also support the manufacture of hybrids and electric/alternative fuel cars.
