...Celsius, could the mercury fill up? i couldn't fit in the question so here it is:

f you pour mercury in a boron glass, and put it in a room at 1000 degrees Celsius, could the mercury fill up the whole room?

deltaVolume = beta * V0 * deltaTemperature

the coefficient of volume expansion of mercury, beta, is 1.8x10^(-4) /°C

using the initial volume, V0, which you didn't specify, calculate deltaVolume using beta and deltaTemperature ~ 980 °C

final volume = V0 + deltaVolume.

of course the glass will expand too. but you only asked about how the mercury behaved... cheers
