If you cook with wine in a recipe is it okay to feed to a child?

I want to make a pork tenderloin in my slow cooker, but the recipe calls for 3/4 cup of red wine. Will the alcohol burn off during the cooking-or will it be unsafe to give to a child for dinner? Also...is the a substitute for the red wine??

The alcohol cooks off, but if you still don't trust it you can substitute beef broth for the wine.

Hi...I think so, it will cook off, but if you are worried, add the wine to a pan and boil it to cook off the alchohol first, then add it to the slow cooker. White grape juice is a good substitute. Besides all that, a little wine in food does not hurt kids anyhow...there is more alchohol in nightime cold medicine I am sure.
