If you are a CID 31D in the Army can you transfer to a civilian detective?

If someone was a military police officer in the army and then they became a Criminal Investigations (CID) Special Agent 31D can they transfer to a become a civilian detective or do they have to go through all the civilian police work and everything first?

You would have to go to the police academy and start at the bottom, like everyone else.

Although you may get promoted faster.
