If we discover an alien civilization, would we have war or be in peace?

They are much stronger than us and we may fear them and besides they are only trying to help us... But on the other hand they have abducted people, destroyed cities, and you know how the government gets when there is something we have not discovered yet.

How do you know each and every alien civilization in the universe is stronger than us?
Have you ever thought maybe WE are stronger than THEM?
Even if they are stronger than us, why would we go to war with a civilization we just met?
Do you know how much information we can get from them if we are at peace?

If they are alien, they must have something different from us that allowed them to survive. We would obviously want any resource, technology, or weaponry used to survive.
