How exactly did the san diego chargers get that name

i never really understood what a charger was,all i know is that

and i would like to know about my favorite teams history
 
The reason for the team name is because the founder of the team was also the founder of the Carte Blanche credit card.He named the team after his customers,who used his card to CHARGE things.Hence,the CHARGERS!

I know,sounds like BS,but that's how I heard it!
