the trans with no dipstick? there is not dipstick to check the level. how would u go about purchasing a dipstick for the transmission

chances are it is a throw away gearbox, that means it requires no servicing but after a certain amount of miles it is replaced

Believe it or not, if it doesn't come with one, you can't purchase one separately.

The manufacturers do that to be ghay. You need to warm up the engine, move the gear selector through the gears with the engine running, then put it back in park, raise the car on a (level) lift while still running, and remove a check plug to see if it's overfull or not.

If fluid doesn't drip out, replace the plug, add 1/2 pint, and repeat the whole process untill fluid drips out. When it drips out, leave the plug out with the engine running until it stops dripping, then replace the plug and your done.

See... totally Ghay!

I'm sorry to say your vehicle is equipped with a Mercedes Benz engine and transmission and it does not have a dipstick. This is just one more way those haughty European car makers have of forcing you to return to the dealer every time you blow a light bulb or have a flat tire. I've always been a big fan of Benz but the engine in your Liberty is pure junk when compared to a domestic unit. Sure the lower end will likely go 300,000 miles before needing replacement but the electrics, fuel system, cooling, valves, fuel pump, computer systems, blah, blah, blah will need constant care and upkeep -- by your local Jeep dealer -- just to keep it roadworthy. Consider this a last, parting 'gift' Mercedes Benz gave Chrysler before they got their well deserved divorce.
Ugh.

The idea is to take it to the dealer. Planned obsolescence meets planned non warranty repairs.
