If they dropped all laws protecting the environment and the air, would pollution go on

the rise? Actually think about this. An easy answer would be "yes," but seriously...who do you know that dumps paint into rivers, litters on a large scale and burns chemicals just because it's easy and or fun to them? I do think that it may be possible that no one would want to do it for the fear of public shame and maybe a beating.

Keep an open-mind.

Thanks!
Way to keep an open-mind. You don't think that non-profit companies would clean up the rivers? You don't think that the average person wouldn't do it just because it is nasty and terrible for the environment? You don't think that the prison population would pick up up litter on the side of the highway?

*OH WAIT! They already do that.

So, you don't trust your fellow man to not do something that is unethical. Notice that you aren't killed or raped on a daily basis when someone could just as easily do so (yes, I do realize that there are laws protecting that too).

I believe that you are the 12 year old. I am assuming that you trust man to govern you but you do not trust man to not litter and pollute just because there are laws against it.
And really...how do you know that? I am pretty sure that 3M would have a media circus if they were dumping paint into the river. No one can get away with anything anymore.
I actually do watch real news and documentaries all of the time and do have faith in humans to be decent people.

Companies. Companies dump paint into rivers. Do you not study history?! Companies have done it before, they would do it again. The auto industry complained about environmental restrictions. They complained how it was impossible to get the mpgs as high as the government wanted or to restrict the exhaust like the government wanted. Now look at them. They're centuries behind their foreign counterparts because they refuse to make good products. Companies resist "unnecessary" expenditures. its a basic rule of economics.

The culture has changed. If a company deliberately neglects the environment, they will be black listed and defunct in short order once exposed.

OhMyGod are you for real? Are you twelve? Do you live in a bubble? Do you have ice cream and lollypops for breakfast every day? Does your mommy still sing lullabys to you every night to rock you to sleep????

I live in a rural county where - up until VERY recently - the majority of homes still practiced "straightpiping" into the French Broad River.

Do you know what straightpiping is????

People are FILTH and without rules and regulations things would be unimaginably poisoned.

Just like it actually *IS* in countries with no LAWS protecting the environment.

You need to watch some real news, dude. Do some reading on the water sources in India or the toxic air in China.

what we have to worry about is carbon dioxide.
us humans are pumping carbon dioxide into the atmosphere at an alarming rate
and this is going to chang the temperature of the entire planet, beyond human understanding
the consequences may be unreversable
but us republicans are relying on god to save us

yes probably. I think so. but we still have too much pollution now

if you look at pictures of the USA in the 1950's and 1960's all its rivers and streams were polluted. the USA was like China is today back then, we made everything for the world

Pollution would skyrocket, and many people would die. Seriously. I'm glad we're past the days of Love Canal. I sure don't want to go back.

NO.

If they enforced Strict private property rights there wouldn't be a need for pollution laws.

As you don't have the right to pollute your neighbors property.

in the long term it would...most of the laws we have now is because people would do that simply because it was easy and not illegal. Once it wasn't illegal people would start doing it again.

It costs MONEY --lots of money-- to be environmentally friendly.

Money spent on environmental safeguards, is money that doesn't make it into the PROFIT column.

Now, think about THAT, and you should be able to answer your own question.

There has to be laws protecting environment otherwise disrespectful fools would do whatever was easiest for them despite the effects it would have. Don't underestimate how devious and ignorant people can be.
Too many laws, however, cause a situation like we are in now.
Gov is too big, they are trampling us for their own agenda no matter the cost to us, "We The People". I believe *global warming* is a massive political scare tactic to force us in to buying things and paying for things we do not need, and if we don't, they will tax it out of us anyway...(i.e. Cap and Trade BS).
Gov took over the banking industries, they control our money, gov took over the car industries so they can tell us what to drive or be taxed, education to control what our children learn, healthcare to determine who's worth saving...it will only get worse.
The earth is fine like it is. It will always change, it always has.
It's hysterical to think "man" can save the planet. We need to save our economy. We have massive amounts of god-given natural resources right here to use...let's use them while working on alternatives. The EPA has too much power and has abused it by denying our rights to drill for these resources that everyone still uses and needs! But our gov is forcing us to pay other countries for it. Imagine what a financial independent, strong, prosperous nation we would be if only allowed the job opportunities right here, making and distributing these resources ourselves. No, our air would remain the same as long as realistic laws were in place. It's astounding how the earth can counteract what we put into it or take out of it and how minuscule our impact really is. Don't believe the fabricated lies, they don't want to help us, just themselves at any cost to us.

Oh yes! The laws protect people from the dishonest not the honest. Companies don't dump into a river or burn because it is fun or easy pal, they do it because it is cheap and no documentation is required. So the bad apples will take advantage and pollute while the best companies will do what is right.
So yes pollution will increase a lot.
