Would you know by looking around you that something is amiss? I would. Our lake is 40 ft low for the 2nd time in 5 yrs. They sky always has a brown tinge at the horizon (and I live in a rural community!) and there are warning signs posted stating the fish in the lakes and streams in my entire state are not safe to eat.
 
I wouldn't need to look around.

I work in Meteorology, and alongside Climatologists, so have all the info available to me.
