it must have been much warmer, therefore the earth must have been much hotter. when was this? is there a geological record of the warm times here on earth,if liquid water existed on mars is there a sedimentary geological record on mars?, and are they consistent with each other in regards to solar activity?
atmospheric density is determoined primarily by gracity. the energy retention of the atmosphere is primarily determined by atmospheric density and composition. co2 is one of the most energy retentive greenhouse gases that we know of, the mars atmosphere is 95% co2 and its gravity has remained constant. how can we speculate that the matian atmosphere was more energy retentive (warmer) that it is now?. thats why i assume the sun was warmer or perhaps the martian magnetosphere was even less effective that it is now? my point is that the martian atmosphere is dependent on gravity and that is constant. what could make make mars warmer?
leon,good answer. so you contend that when mars had a stronger magnetesphere it protected a much denser atmosphere, permitting the required pressure and temperature for liquid water to exist. i see the light, very good!
if mars had liquid water at one time, it would be very interesting to find out when tat was. it is concievable that when eart was a snowball mars may have been more habitable to life. mars may have actualy harbored life before earth!! it really boggles the mind considering that the fossil record goes back to the early cambrian 550mya. nothing exists from before. could there be preserved fossils on mars and how do we know it wasnt advanced. after enough time all traces are erased. it really boggles the mind.
