K Kaveh New member Dec 6, 2009 #1 ...or post-1982.? The pre 1982 was made of pure copper but the post 1982 was filled in with another metal. The penny can't be destroyed in the process. I guess I can't use hydrochloric acid for this. Anyone have an idea about what I should do?
