if the speed limit is the law, why is there a 5 mph "leeway"?

if your over the speed limit, your speeding, regardless if its just 2 or 3 mph. give them a damn ticket already. people honk at me too many times because im doin 5 mph under the limit. im sorry, my '62 galaxie doesnt stop well,since it has manual brakes. i need at least 4 or 5 car lengths of space but i never can get that since people always pull out on me or ride my a*s. im nto rude, but when you see an old school car, get the hell out of the way or i wont care when i hit you. trust me i wont, you can take all the money you want, but that doesnt mean i wont be glad i wont nail your butt for bein cocky
my 4000 pound steel tank will crush whatever car gets in its path, so go head pull out in front of me or ride my tail, i dont care. ill just stomp on the brake really quickly or speed up and your car is history. your pain is irrelevant to me

There is absolutely no leeway in the city that I live in. It is registered as a speed trap (the entire city) If you get pulled over in this city, you ARE going to get a ticket

Your picture shows you to be a little young for harboring that much rage. Life is full of people who cannot drive and have no concern for others. Your road rage is gonna get you in trouble so please find a safe outlet for it before you shoot someone.

it dont too me since they behind me and i drive 5 over or more and when i come up on a slow car i pass so let them honk really..
id drive slower if i was you 5 under not a lot for a old car like that you shouldnt drive it but like 35
i hate cry babies but do love old fords its too bad you have it
 
Because the local law enforcement agencies have to take into account that speedometers in vehicles are not completely accurate and they can be off by as many as 5mph brand new from the factory. The speedometer in your car is not nearly as accurate as the laser and or radar guns used by law enforcement.

In relation to the safety of your 62 Galaxie, you would actually be more severely injured than whoever you hit. It is true that newer vehicles crush easily, but that is a safety feature. As steel and aluminum crushed, glass breaks, and plastic tears that all absorbs energy from the impact. Older cars like yours do not absorb the impact nearly as well and therefore transfer that energy to the weak point in the car... the driver and passengers. So while newer vehicles get damaged more easily, the rate of injuries goes down.
