)The USAF put out a fairly good survival manual. You could probably skip over the parts about using your parachute (very handy device) and the admonition against leaving the native women alone.
You could also use a good camping book written before 1950. Kephart wrote one. Finally, a book on wild foods would help. Forget Ewell Gibbons -- too wordy. Muencher wrote a good one.
