Let me make this more clear.
Lets say I'm walking in an alley and a guy pulls out a gun on me, then I stab him with a pocket knife to the neck and he dies. Would I be able to use self defense even after it was later revealed to be a BB? Now remember if someone pulls out a gun on you, in the heat of the moment you would not be able to tell if it's fake or not.
If I won't be able to use self defense, why are you allowed to use a gun if someone pulls out a gun on you?
Carrying a Knife isn't illegal and you can use a knife as self defense.
