If Simpsons eventually ends, will the franchise ever be rebooted?

If the series were to end, I certainly would expect a remake to occur. I can really see it taking the Scooby Doo route with many spin-offs focusing on different characters like Lisa and Maggie.

I think Matt has already flirted with that idea years back while trying to come up with ideas for a Simpsons movie. Ultimately he decided against it, and we should be thankful he did.

I think Simpsons would probably be hard to reboot because its concept doesn't really lend itself to that type of thing. There have been what, 4-5 actual, permanent plot developments over the course of the series?

Once (if?) the series goes off the air, I expect it will become something like Mickey Mouse and Looney Tunes - even though no new material is being produced on a consistent basis, it will still be a merchandising giant.

I don't think they would ever reboot the series, but that's just my opinion. I think that they are very protective of the characters and Simpsons universe and rightly so.

I wouldn't want a reboot, I like the way the voices hanndle there characters. You'd really have to search for some one hard to be able to hanndle some one like Barts voice. I wouldn't want a live action series either that'd just be creepy to me. Spin off's I can see, wouldn't mind one on Bartman. He's been so limted with his screen time latley :(

I think most of what would happen is that all the episodes will finally re-air several times a day on a cable network, just like so many old sitcoms are now. I know Adult Swim has wanted to air it for a long time, but as of now Fox is charging way too much for airing rights outside FOX and it's affiliates. Considering how many cable channels have aired re-runs of Family Guy, King of The Hill and Futurama, it's kinda ridiculous that The Simpsons still hasn't.
