If Simpsons eventually ends, will the franchise ever be rebooted?

And by that, I mean in another 50 years after all the current writers and voice actors have passed on.

The Simpsons has become such a part of pop culture, much like everything else that gets rebooted such as Star Trek, Star Wars, Batman and Superman for the billionth time...what about Simpsons?

Let's say we're in the year 2050. Hopefully by then, Simpsons will have ended. Do you think they'd start a brand new Simpsons show from scratch?

Wrong.

The Simpsons is forever timeless, I could see it acting like Scooby Doo and still being just as relevant as it was in the 90's, it is still in the pop culture's mind right now.

There'll probably be reboots eventually but they probably won't be that great. The thing you have to remember about The Simpsons is that the basic concept is actually pretty bland and generic. Dysfunctional nuclear family has wacky over the top adventures has pretty much been done to death in the world of sitcoms. What made The Simpsons stand out at the height of their popularity was the humorous style of it's creative team.

I would hope they never reboot the series in the future. By the time the show ends, there'd be at least 500 episodes. I cant imagine the series returning with a completely new team with fresh ideas. It's hard enough for them to have good ideas as it stands now.

I dont think the humour being outdated would be an issue though. If you really think about it, some of the humour in the '90s episodes are now outdated. The humour can evolve into what's popular. It's already done it for the 2000s.

I think this too. I think it will be similar to all these Looney Tunes revivals, which mostly all mediocre to terrible. Also similar to the Looney Tunes, I think the voice actors will be pretty hard to replace too, and if they are replaced, there will be more than the current number that The Simpsons currently uses. What I mean is, once Dan Castelleneta passes on, it will be hard to find one person to play Homer, Krusty, Mayor Quimby, and many others. That's not even mentioning the at least dozen or so regular voicess both Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer do.

In my opinion, a Simpsons reboot/spinoff could be done without The Simpsons. They could do a Tales of Springfield thing, where they would showcase a character in Springfield and do a story about him. They could do a Bart Simpson reboot, focussing on Bart mainly( and be based on the Bart Simpson comics). They could do a Ned Flanders spinoff. A simpsons reboot/spinoff does not have do be about the Simpsons.

...And it will fail. The Simpsons would totally not work in live action. One only needs to see how the Speed Racer and Dragonball live action films turned out to see how bad an idea this would be. King of the Hill could conceivably work in live action because the characters at least look like real people, but The Simpsons with live actors would be an abomination. Actors covered in yellow makeup with ping-pong balls over their eyes? No thanks.

The one thing that makes The Simpsons stand out from every other domestic sitcom is the fact that it's animated. Take that away, and what have you got?

In my opinion, The Simpsons is like Batman or Superman...

The show and it's characters are burned into the fabric of pop culture and will always be around.

In what form in the future remains to be seen...

the difference is that the simpsons are so defined by their voices that if any of the main 6 voice actors leave, the show is basically over.
