...psychic boot-to-the-head camp? Some suggest that psychic powers might by default be lying dormant in most humans because they haven't yet "tapped" into them, like a keg tap into a foamy head of psychic beer.

I've already tried the self-teaching approach by staring intently at my dog and trying to read his mind, but he just looks at me and licks my face. When I do the same with my cat, he just purrs at me and looks like he's saying, "Hmmm... how droll." I figure if my psychic abilities were being improved merely by practicing, I'd be able to actually "hear" what my animals are thinking.

Are there special, hidden schools where one may learn to develop one's own psychic powers? If so, where can I apply, and since they can supposedly tap into the limitless energy of the universe, does that mean I can use a VISA with a limitless psychic credit limit to fund my tuition?

I think we do have other senses that have deteriorated over time due to non-use.
Humans and sharks have a distant common ancestor, correct?
Sharks also have more senses than us - for example, they can sense electromagnetic fields. Now, our similar ancestor probably had similar senses to these. What happened to them in the progression of our species between then and now?....

I'm not aware of any school, but there are ways to become in tune with the energy of the universe. look up astral projection and the use of a pendulum for divination, that is a way to start tapping into it.
