then, would it be wrong to ask the government not to increase them?

After all, raising taxes isn't the reason why they want pass Man Made Global Warming legislation....

I don't oppose the idea of taking good care of the environment, I just oppose the idea of paying more as the only solution to it!

Can't they do it with the tax money we are already paying?
Can the find the way to protect the environment and promote prosperity at the same time? why can't both co-exist? (No, Cap and Trade won't do it because it punishes prosperity).

More prosperity = More tax money!! don't they know this?

What say you?
I used the the word TAXES loosely. When the price of gas, electricity, natural gas goes up, prices of EVERYTHING else go up, EVERYTHING but SALARIES...... The buying power shrinks. You can give it the name you wish to give it, I just call it GLOBAL WARMING TAX.

It's not about taxes. It's about fossilized carbon.

Any economist will tell you that taxing something is the most efficient way to reduce it. Sure, I would be in favor of any plan, including non-tax schemes, to reduce fossil fuel use. That includes strict regulation. Anything is a lot better than nothing.

But most people, given the choice, would actually prefer taxation to regulation. In World War II, the government issued ration stamps to regulate gasoline use. Do you really think that's a better and fairer way to reduce fossil fuel use than taxation? With taxation, people have the OPTION to avoid the tax IF THEY SO CHOOSE. Just use less fuel. With regulation, if you want to use more fuel, you need to find somebody else to sell you their ration, so you end up paying more anyway.
