Situation -
"Sara" claims her 2 children every year on taxes. But her children don't live with her, they live with her ex "Steve" (never married, no court papers). Steve has the kids 100% of the time, yet Sara claims them on her taxes. Why? She's a bit*h and walks all over him.
The problem is, Steve and the kids live horribly. They are always broke, they even receive food from the church sometimes. They live in a very sub-par house, wear used donated clothes and it's clear they've never had dental care.
Steve is a doormat though. His ex does things like this and he doesn't have the balls to stand up and do something (not to mention, Sara brags about this stuff on her social web page). His girls need the help though; someone needs to do something. That tax money would do SOOOO much for them.
But, this is none of my business because I'm only an acquaintance (My boyfriend is Steve's neighbor). So, I want to encourage my boyfriend into filling out a fraud report on the IRS webpage. And if he doesn't, I'm likely to do it. Steve won't do it and he'll keep letting his kids live like that.
So, what do you think? Is this a situation where it's ok if someone "sticks their nose in"? Ya know, 'it takes a village to raise a child' type of thing? I just feel so bad for those girls.
