If I'm working out/exercising why am I gaing weight instead of losing it?

I do weights every other day and the treadmill on the other days and I do cardio intervals everyday for about an our. I've been doing the weights and treadmill since October and I've just started th cardio. I even changed my eating habits. What should I be doing or what am I doing wrong?
I've heard about the gaining muscle before so hopefully that's what it is. I really want to lose fat... Should I do less weights?
