If I want crisp bass that isn't Extremely loud what should I look at?

Ok I have a 2000 Land Rover Discovery with the harmon kardon 300 watt "system" in it after talking to some of my friends they are of the opinion that I could disconnect the two subs that my discovery has and using the high pass filter on my Pioneer head unit add some new subs to the car. I want some really crisp bass that I can play loud but being able to shake the whole neighborhood is not what im after. My price range looks to be around $500-600 first off is that even possible and if so what would you recomend.

if you want some good quality bass the best way to go is hifonics olympus. they have the best range by far and hit harder then any bass ive ever seen. you should get one 15" that runs 2400rms and the hifonics brutus ampthat runs 2600 rms and a sealed enclosure. it will prbly run you about 700 maby less depending on what sites you go to. I recomend ebay. i got my set up on there and save over a grand from what i would have paid at a store.
