if i sync my iPhone apps to my ipad and use them in hd on the iPad...?

i got an iPad and want to sync my iPhone apps to it and use them full screen of HD. i heard if you do that they look crappy and bad. you have to buy the hd version from the app store which is more expensive. is that true or do the apps still look good from iPHONE to iPad in full screen ipad? i appreciate any answers. thank you so much
