If I return the car can the dealership charge me a restocking fee and .25...

...cents per mile? I put $2000 down on a vehical and they let me drive the car before i was approved for a loan, now three and a half weeks later they say I was turned down for the loan. They said they wanted the car back so I said ok but i want my down payment back and now they want to charge me all these fees. what should i do?
 
Do not give them the car back until they give you your money back.

Also, tell them that they can make this easy for both parties by giving you your check back with no fees or you will make things difficult for them which would include a lawyer and a TV station. They will crater, don't worry. Besides, I do not think you signed any agreement about paying any fees in the event your loan fell through.

It is their mistake for letting you have the car before the loan was approved.....this is on them.
