If I pre-order a book on Amazon.com, will it arrive the day it comes out or later?

Specifically, I want to order Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. It comes out on August 24, 2010, but I'm worried I won't get it until after it comes out. The reason I want to order it rather than just buy it at a bookstore is because it's about $8 on amazon, but around $17 everywhere else. Help please!
