I have a arraignment in the next 2 weeks for a DUI, now before everyone posts saying how im such a horible person, it was for marijuama not drinking, not to say thats better but even the cop said he didint think i was "stoned out of my goard, just impared" but whatever,,, anyways this is my first criminal offence ever, and im worried about just walking in and pleaing guilty and the judge like throwing the book at me, so i want to plea not guilty and speak with a public defender but dont know when/how long i will get to speak to them to get there input on a plea, but if i change my plea at the pre-trial hearing will i get off worse then if i just plea not guilty in the first place?

Not usually, do not plead until the DA offers a deal that you can live with. In my Courts they usually offer a first time offender ARD, DUI school, fines and after you complete everything you should be able to have your record expunged. You can always plead nolo condre which means you not pleading guilty but your not pleading not guilty either, what it is saying is that they have enough evidence against you to convict you but you are not admitting to it.
