...days on friday or saturday? i mated my hamster on thursday(june 16th) and been counting down to 16 days on friday. so did i count wrong bec its the 17th day today. and she shows all the signs and symptoms of pregnancy. but im not sure if shes just giving birth late or i counted wrong. how long does it take for a male syrian hamster to fertelize the females egg? what day shud have i counted? please help! Serious Answers Only Please!
i forgot to mention that the male is a teddy bear hamster and my female is a syrian
 
16 days is too early. It's usually at least 21 days before she'll give birth, so don't worry about it yet. Now's about the time to do one last cage clean before you leave her to the birth, make sure you provide a whole load of bedding for her to make her nest with, and enough food and water for all the pups.
 
Is every single human pregnancy 9 months? Does every single one end after 9 months to the day? Some last a year. Some last a lot less.
16 days is the average. It doesn't always happen to the exact day. If you don't know what you're doing, do not breed her again. Breeding hamsters is NOT always fun. You tend to get deaths, there are lots of risks, etc. There are lots of things that could go wrong when breeding hamsters. Especially when they come from a pet shop. (please read http://www.brecklagh.com/petshops.html Do you think all the animals there are healthy? Are there problems which could be passed on to her young?)

She will probably give birth in a few days. If she hasn't given birth within 7 or so days, take her to the vet, unless you're pretty sure she's about to give birth.
 
These figures are all for the Golden Hamster, but are probably pretty close to any other breed of hamster:
Puberty: 4-5 weeks
Optimum beginning breeding age:
males: 10-12 weeks
females: 16-20 weeks
Estrus: Every 3-4 days
Gestation period: 16-18 days
Litter size: 1-18 (average is about 8)
Birth weight: 1/14 to 1/8 oz
Weaning age: 3-4 weeks


For Dwarf Hamsters:
Puberty: 4-5 weeks
Optimum breeding age: whenever they're ready!
Gestation period: 18-21 days
Litter size: 1-14 (average 4)
Weaning age: 3-4 weeks
