If I made a photo in my SLR camera and want an 8x10, can I just make a 5x7...

...and enlarge it to 8x10.? The print is not working as 8x10...on as 8x12 or 5x7. The cropping chops off some of the photo. Thanks.
 
First do not overwrite your original image file!

Second, using the cropping tool in your photo program, make all your crops, 8x10, 5x7, 8x12 etc.

When you crop the original, save the new file with 57, 810, 812, etc tagged to the end of the original file name.

With you doing the cropping, you can control what part of the photo is cropped.
 
Of course you may but the quality will deteriorate. Manually crop the picture to get the part of the picture you want to keep, save that under a new filename and print it from there.
