...stood in a fighting stance...? We all know my Sgt would give me shit. What I want to know is what kind of trouble would I get (myself / everybody) in if I maintained my fighting stance and in reply said to my Sgt "I will not put myself in a compromising stance SIR!"

What if I wasn't afraid of 40 guys after lights out, pain, death or court martial? What do you think the court martial verdict would be for this one specific thing? What if everyone realized I was only doing it to make everyone stronger so nobody minded the extra push ups? Push ups are no skin off my back. They had me doing 300 at a time before I helped teach in Kenpo.
... and I was already used to walking around lifting 500lbs at all times.
What a shame for the military...

That obedience seems to trump personal safety.
What is it that they say: "Safety first?"
I'm sure many have died needlessly who would otherwise BE obedient if it weren't for this headstrong ethic.
I made my point.

I'd be happy to do a better job training these recruits.
