...get stuck behind a desk? If i join the infantry i don't exactly want to be stuck behind a desk in Glasgow or something sipping tea and doing paperwork.

Just weighing up which option to go for, Soldier or Officer?

Go and look on the website for BA forces, gives you all the info you should need.

A certain amount of being an officer will involve working behind an office.

But I would advise any young lad, who's able, to apply to be an officer. That way you'll get good money and won't end up paying your car insurance late like me :)

If you get Infantry, you won't be behind a desk. The issue is getting infantry, its extremely competitive, chances are you won't get it, and you could definitely find yourself stuck behind a desk

You will see action in both roles.

Officers do have lots of peperwork to do, but so do NCOs if you were promoted that way. Only older or more senior officers spend more time polishing their chairs than soldiering.
