owners take me to court? I recently got a car from my friend. Her father and I went to the DMV and he signed the title over to me and I got a receipt for the tax information. He wrote that the car was $2,500 on the taxform. Does this mean that legally I paid for the car?
My friend and I had a verbal agreement on when I would pay, but the car was not registered to her and she did not have ownership of the car. I signed a paper they typed up saying I'll pay $400 every month. But her father, who was the legal owner, did not sign at all. The description of the car was also missing. They did not include the color of the car and the VIN number. My friend's mother was the one who signed it and I signed their copy. But can this paper stand in court because it was not notarized?
If they were to take me to court for not paying them, what would happen?
