An MRI will focus on the area of the body that neeRAB the scan. So if you have an MRI of the spine it will show troubles you are having in the spine.
Some of the nerves leaving your spine can cause other troubles such as pain, nurabness in other areas such as your arms, legs, head etc.

Hi,

Yes, it is possible that it may show some other problem unrelated to the spine. It does focus on your spine, but anything around your spine in the area being imaged will also show up.

For example, every time I get lower lurabar and/or sacroiliac MRI, besides my back issues being on the report, the radiologist will also report my ovarian cysts and free-fluid. They usually report it as a seperate paragraph and as in incidental finding. So even though my MRI was NOT for my ovaries, the image caught most of my pelvic area, and cysts showed up as well.
